Pura 90 Ultra will be the next flagship smartphone in the Huawei world, featuring high-fy features and dynamic screen technology. After the Mate 80 models, the company will likely use the dual-layer OLED display tech for its 2026 top-end handset.
A Weibo tipster shed light on the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra screen parameters. It said the device will debut with significant display upgrades over the previous-gen phone.
SmartPikachu mentioned that all the upcoming Huawei smartphone series will follow the “flat screen” trend. Starting with the Mate 80 smartphones, the OEM will abandon quad-curved panels on its devices due to display-related issues.
Further, the tipster said the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra, coming next year, could finally feature the dual-layer OLED screen. Pura models were expected to take this step in 2025.
- Huawei Pura 80 series may flaunt a dual-layer OLED screen
But for some unknown reason, the company has used a simple display tech for the Pura 80 Ultra. For comparison, the handset uses a single-layer LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3000 nits peak brightness, and some other top-notch specs.
Thus, we can expect to see the Pura 90 Ultra phone with a flat +dula-layer OLED screen. Perhaps the company may use a custom display technology for the flagship.
Dual-layer OLED has several benefits over ordinary display technologies. It stacks two light-emitting layers to increase the brightness and create a single, consistent screen.
In terms of advantages, the layers operate at a lower brightness level to lessen stress on the organic material. Hence, it leads to a longer lifespan of the smartphone. Moreover, it reduces the power consumption and boosts the screen’s efficiency.
That’s just the beginning, and it seems more devices will soon join this race and debut with the tandem OLED screen in the time ahead, in the Huawei family.
