Team Group achieves 14,900 MB/s read speeds with its new T-Group Z54E PCIe 5.0 SSDs

Team Group is pushing the limits of M.2 storage with its new T-Force Z54E SSD. This new driver uses Phison’s new E28 SSD controller and achieved sequential read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s. This drive is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB forms, giving users a solid blend of speed and performance.

Phison’s E28 SSD controller replaces the company’s E26 controller, delivering higher speeds, support for faster NAND, and significantly lower thermals. The controller is built using TSMC’s 6nm node. Phison calls this controller their “Ultimate Gen5 SSD” controller.

For sequential writes, the T-Force Z54E can deliver up to 14,000 MB/s speeds with its 2TB and 4TB models. The drive’s 1TB model is slightly slower with up to 13,700 MB/s sequential read speeds. All three models use TLC memory, feature a DRAM cache, and are available as a bare drive with a graphite-based heatspreader. These SSDs do not ship with included heatsinks.

This new SSD from Team Group is one of the fastest on the market, using Phison’s latest controller tech alongside fast TLC NAND to deliver performance levels that sit at the limits of PCIe 5.0’s capabilities. M.2 SSDs will not be able to deliver sequential speeds that are significantly faster than this until PCIe 6.0 drives launch. In other words, PCIe 5.0 SSDs can’t get much faster than this.
