AMD has unveiled a new processor with 3D V-Cache – Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Confirmation appeared on the company's website, where the chip was accidentally published on the support page. Although AMD has not yet announced it, its appearance on the official website speaks for itself: the product range will soon be updated.
Information about the possible launch of the new Ryzen 9000X3D series appeared a month ago. At that time, two models were discussed: Ruzhen 9 9950X3D2 and Ruzhen 7 9850X3D. Now the second one has been effectively confirmed. Ruzhen 7 9850X3D has 8 cores and 16 threads, 120W TDP, and the same 96 MB L3 cache as Ruzhen 7 9800X3D. However, the main difference is the clock speed. The new model supports clock speed acceleration up to 5.6 GHz, which is 400 MHz more than the 9800X3D. This is a significant improvement for gaming tasks, where the speed of a single core and the size of the cache directly affect the FPS.
AMD has confirmed that the Zen 5 generation uses a revamped second-generation V-Cache. The new version runs cooler, faster, and finally supports overclocking. This could allow the company to achieve stable high frequencies with such cache sizes for the first time and prepare full-fledged X3D models for the market. the market.
Competition from Intel is also mentioned. According to sources, Intel is working on its own equivalent of 3D V-Cache in the upcoming Nova Lake line, which it plans to use Big LLC blocks. However, these chips will not appear until the end of 2026, just like the solutions based on AMD's Zen 6 architecture.
In addition, AMD has confirmed that it is preparing another X3D model: Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. This is a hybrid version with 16 cores and 32 threads, probably with two combined chipsets, which will provide a total of 192 MB of L3 cache memory. According to preliminary data, this processor will operate at a base frequency of 4.30 GHz and will be able to overclock to around 5.6 GHz with a TDP of approximately 200 watts. However, this processor has not yet been confirmed by AMD, so we will have to wait for the official details.
